SOR: What is our Purpose?

The objects of the Society are patriotic, literary, and social. It was formed for the purpose of perpetuating the memory of those men, who in the military, naval and civil service of the American colonies during the War of the Revolution, by their acts or counsel, achieved the independence of our country; to stimulate a love for historical study; to collect and secure for preservation the manuscripts, records and other documents relating to that period--particularly those pertaining to North Carolina; to inspire the members of the Society with the patriotic spirit of their forefathers, and to promote a feeling of fellowship among them.
